The United Nations (UN) lifted its arms embargo on Eritrea on 14 November 2018 via adoption of UN Security Council Resolution UNSC Resolution 2444 (2018).

Following the lifting of this UN-imposed embargo, the European Union (EU) also lifted EU-imposed sanctions on Eritrea on 10 December 2018 by adopting Council Decision (CFSP) 2018/1944 and Council Regulation (EU) 2018/1932.

Following the lifting of both the UN and EU sanctions, work is now underway to repeal relevant UK legislation.
