Northumbrian Water Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is to vary licence serial number 7/35/04/*G/0067 which authorises abstraction from groundwater at National Grid References (NGR): TM 35 61, TM 31 60 and TM 37 63.
The variation applied for is to add an abstraction point to the licence. Abstraction will be for the same purposes and abstraction period as specified for the existing abstraction points that it will be grouped with on the licence (at NGR: TM 35 61).
Abstraction from the new point is proposed at a greater instantaneous rate (maximum 71.2 litres per second (l/s) compared to 49.2 l/s and 52.6 l/s at other abstraction points in the group). There are no increases in daily or annual abstraction volumes proposed.
