Northstone (NI) Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to abstract water from the River Yare from two areas at National Grid References (A) TG 52411 05989, TG 52432 05992, TG 52434 05967, TG 52414 05965 and (B) TG 52487 05999, TG 52506 06002, TG 52510 05977, TG 52490 05975.

To transfer it to the River Yare at National Grid Reference TG 52462 06004 without intervening use.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 144 cubic metres an hour
  • 3,456 cubic metres a day
  • 1,261,440 cubic metres a year
  • between January and December inclusive in each year.

This application is for the transfer of mixed surface water and groundwater abstracted during proposed construction works for the Third Yare Bridge crossing in Great Yarmouth, into the River Yare. No intervening use or treatment of the abstracted water is proposed.
