Details
In November 2024, the government commissioned an independent Neurodivergence Task and Finish Group (NDTFG) to produce a report on the best ways to support and meet the needs of neurodivergent children and young people in mainstream settings. The group comprised a panel of experts, chaired by Professor Karen Guldberg.
The report was informed by research, evidence and extensive consultation with:
- parents, carers and those with lived experience
- neurodivergent children, young people and adults
- education staff
- charities and networks
- academics and sector leads
- DfE and across government
- other local and national groups, including health providers
The report and its recommendations have fed into the development of the 2026 SEND reform: putting children and young people first.
