Local authorities have the flexibility to allow motorcyclists to use bus lanes on their network.
This traffic advisory leaflet (TAL) outlines the factors that local authorities should consider before deciding to allow motorcyclists to use bus lanes.
Wherever it is appropriate, local councils should allow motorcyclists to use bus lanes. In doing so, they should take into account the factors set out in this advice.
This advice achieves the ‘smoother journeys’ plan for drivers commitment to publish revised guidance to local authorities.
