Published 18 May 2016

This guidance was withdrawn on

This MOT special notice has been withdrawn because there is a new way to find MOT tester and manager training courses.

Applies to England, Scotland and Wales

For all authorised examiners (AEs) and nominated testers (NTs)

1: Nominated tester training (NTT) and MOT manager course to end

DVSA is bringing its nominated tester training (NTT) and MOT manager course to an end as part of its changes to MOT training.

Applications for these courses will no longer be accepted after 31 May 2016.

DVSA will no longer deliver courses later in the year so capacity is limited.

If local courses aren’t available, successful applicants should search for and book themselves on the nearest available.

If successful applicants can’t find a course they’ll need to apply for the equivalent NTT and MOT manager course through an approved training provider.

After the application cut-off date (ie 31 May 2016), mechanics will still be able to become MOT testers or managers through the same approved training providers.

To find approved training providers contact the following organisations:

NTs must acknowledge they’ve read and understood this MOT special notice by clicking the green ‘Acknowledge’ button, this can only be done through the MOT testing service.

If you have any questions about NTT and the MOT manager course coming to an end email any queries to mtess@vosa.gsi.gov.uk.
