MOT special notice 04-26: national rollout of photos at test
A new feature is being rolled out on the MOT testing service from 3 August 2026, allowing testers to take and upload a photo of the vehicle being tested.

This special notice tells you about a new feature that is being rolled out on the MOT testing service from 3 August 2026.
Around 2,500 garages across Great Britain will get access to the feature during this first phase of the rollout.
The new feature will allow MOT testers to take and upload a photo of a vehicle at the time of its test using a smartphone, tablet or other compatible mobile device.
