MOT special notice 03-25: testing vehicles affected by the Citroën stop drive recall

This replaces special notice 02-2025, which was issued on 9 July 2025. If you have saved or printed a copies of special notice 02-2025, please discard them and do not use them.
Citroën has issued an updated communication regarding the urgent stop drive recall affecting certain C3, C4, DS3, DS4 and DS5 models due to a fault with the airbag system.
This recall affects the:
- second-generation Citroën C3 manufactured between 2009 and 2016
- Citroën DS 3 manufactured between 2009 and 2016
- DS Automobiles DS 3 manufactured between 2016 and 2019
- Citroën C4 manufactured between 2010 and 2018
- Citroën DS4 manufactured between 2010 and 2018
- Citroën DS5 manufactured between 2010 and 2018

Check if a vehicle is affected on the Citroën website.
Enter the vehicle identification number (VIN) and the code displayed on the Citroën website.
What to do if the vehicle is affected
You can MOT test the vehicle as normal. The affected vehicles will only cause a problem in the event of an airbag deployment because of an accident.
You should issue a ‘manual advisory’ with the following text:
“This vehicle has an outstanding recall. Contact Citroën for information and to arrange a free repair.”
