Mick George Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from alluvium deposits at Block Fen Quarry, Chatteris, Cambridgeshire, between National Grid References TL 43210 85920, TL 44541 84842, TL 43922 84114 and TL 42314 84700.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 13 cubic metres an hour

  • 300 cubic metres a day

  • 109,500 cubic metres a year

The water will be used for mineral washing and dust suppression and transferred to a drain at National Grid Reference TL 43409 84521 for the purpose of dewatering.
