In 2010, DFID announced their ‘Framework for results for reproductive, maternal and newborn health (RMNH)’ which included several ambitious goals including saving 250,000 newborn and 50,000 maternal lives by 2015. This technical note describes how DFID uses the Lives Saved Tool (LiST) to estimate lives saved from its bilateral health-related programs. It is aimed primarily at a specialist audience. The results will be published separately at the end of the project.
