McLaughlin & Harvey Construction Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a licence to abstract water from underground strata comprising alluvium and Pennine Middle Coal Measures at Forgemasters, Brightside Lane, Sheffield, from an area formed by straight lines between National Grid References: SK 38525 90461, SK 38766 90561, SK 38943 90215 and SK 38708 90115, to transfer it back to the same source within the same area without intervening use.
The application is to abstract water as follows:

4,752 cubic metres a day

1,734,480 cubic metres a year
Abstraction will take place all year round for the purpose of dewatering, until construction work is complete.
