Your feedback is being analysed. The Environment Agency consulted on this proposal for change between 10 October 2015 and 10 November 2015.

The Environment Agency proposes to de-main the entire length of the Lynwood Ditch in Redhill, Surrey that is designated as a ‘main river’.

It proposes to make this change as a ‘determination’ under section 193C(1) of the Water Resources Act 1991. A determination is a formal decision to change the main river map.

The proposed determination is that the Lynwood Ditch between Gatton Park Road and Monson Road (national grid reference (NGR) TQ 27854 52084 and TQ 28058 51690) and Frenches Pond (TQ 28207 51486 and TQ 28218 51330) which is shown as a ‘deletion’ on the main river consultation map, is no longer to be treated as part of a main river.

The watercourse acts on its own, or in combination with others in the vicinity, as part of a network to manage surface water or local flood risk, but makes a limited contribution to catchment scale flood risk management. The change would mean that the lead local flood authority would have the power to carry out work to manage flood risk of the watercourse. The Environment Agency would no longer have this power.

The change would also affect how the watercourse is regulated. If you wanted to carry out works in or next to the watercourse, you might have to get consent from the lead local flood authority.
