 We have a received a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 for the following: 

  1. How many departmental electronic items that store data have been lost or stolen in the last twelve months while outside of offices used by your organisation? (This includes smartphones, laptops, USB sticks and portable hard drives).
  2. Has this number increased, decreased or stayed the same compared with the number lost in 2008?

We released the following information on 1 July 2010.

  1. In the 2009 calendar year 10 items have been reported lost or stolen. 
  2. In 2009, the number of electronic items reported lost or stolen was lower than in 2008.
