Details

On 29 October 2026, the Minister for Local Government, Devolution and Regional Growth wrote to council leaders in 5 areas concerning new minded-to decisions, subject to representations and parliamentary approval before final decisions, as part of the review of the local government reorganisation programme announced in September.

The letters set out details of the representations period and next steps for the review, alongside information on funding, city status and ceremonial matters.
