Details

On 19 November 2025, the Minister of State for Local Government and Homelessness, Alison McGovern, wrote to the leaders of East Sussex and Brighton and Hove councils to inform them of the launch of the Essex local government reorganisation consultation.

Wealden District Council did not submit a proposal for unitary local government and so the letter is not addressed to their leader.

For the purposes of the consultation, the proposals in West Sussex and East Sussex and Brighton and Hove have been grouped together.
