This report explores retirees’ lived experiences of financial adequacy in later life, examining how people aged 65 to 75 define and experience having enough income in retirement. Through qualitative research, it highlights the practical, social and emotional factors that influence financial wellbeing and security in later life.

The research complements existing evidence on pension adequacy and pensioner poverty by providing a deeper understanding of how retirees manage their finances, respond to changing circumstances and maintain their desired standard of living.
