Dear Mel, Appointment of Financial Conduct Authority Chair

Further to the letter from the Economic Secretary of 11 July 2022 noting the appointment of Ashley Alder as the next Chair-of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), I am writing to confirm that Ashley will take up his role on 20 February 2023. _Richard Lloyd will continue to serve as Interim Chair of the FCA until then.

I trust that this start date provides the Committee with sufficient time to conduct its pre­commencement scrutiny, which the Treasury recognises is a valuable and important part of the appointment process.

I will also be placing this letter in the public domain.
