Laing O’Rourke Delivery Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a licence to abstract water from head deposits at Garth Prison and Wymott Prison (excavations between National Grid References SD 50234 20947, SD 50710 21135, SD 50828 20529 and SD 50261 20593), to transfer it to a surface water sewer leading to the River Lostock at National Grid Reference SD 50776 19671 without intervening use.
The application is to abstract water as follows:

Abstraction will take place until 31 December 2028.
