The UK and the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme

Published 22 December 2025

The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme is an international initiative that brings together governments, industry and civil society. Its aim is to stop conflict diamonds entering the legitimate diamond trade and protect the integrity of the rough diamond supply chain.

The UK is a founding member of the Kimberley Process and supports its ongoing review and reform.

The UK attended the Kimberley Process Plenary in the United Arab Emirates from 17 to 21 November 2025. We reiterated that, while the Kimberley Process has made progress since it began, we remain concerned about Russia using revenue from rough diamonds to fund its illegal war in Ukraine.

The UK will continue to work with partners to strengthen the Kimberley Process.
