Details

The JSA sanctions early warning trial tested the effect of giving claimants facing a sanction an additional 14 days to provide evidence of compliance.

The trial ran from April 2016 to September 2016, during which 6,500 sanction referrals went through the trial process. This report presents findings from an external evaluation of the trial, which involved qualitative research with:

  • JSA claimants
  • Jobcentre Plus work coaches
  • Work Programme providers
  • Department for Work and Pensions labour market decision makers
  • a dispute resolution team involved in the trial
