Investment in intangible assets like skills, research and development and innovation can benefit not only businesses making these investments, but also other firms in the same geographical area, industry sector or supply chain. These are often called ‘spillover’ benefits. These 2 reports provide further evidence on these ‘spillovers’ and their effect on productivity.
