This research aims to understand international teacher recruitment in England. It examines:
- motivations and experiences of international teachers and teacher trainees
- practices and perceptions of schools and multi-academy trusts (MATs) when recruiting international teachers
- the role of initial teacher training (ITT) providers and recruitment agencies in supporting international trainee and teacher recruitment
- barriers and enablers to international recruitment
- the influence of different policies, such as the international relocation payment (IRP)
The report includes findings from:
- surveys with international teachers and trainees
- interviews with international teachers and trainees teaching or training in England
- interviews with school and MAT leaders, recruitment agencies and ITT providers
