Innovation will help the UK to seize the opportunities and confront the challenges of the modern age. The UK’s intellectual property regime is central to innovation. It gives inventors, creatives, and entrepreneurs, the confidence to invest in innovation and reap the benefits of their investments. The UK already has one of the best IP regimes in the world. It is consistently ranked as one of the top regimes in indices such as those from the Taylor-Wessing Global IP Index and US Chamber of Commerce International IP Index.

Our ambition is to be the best IP office and this plan is the second step in delivering the IPO Strategy. We can help to make the UK the most creative and innovative country in the world by:

Delivering excellent IP services

Delivering excellent IP services for our customers is central to the IPO. To be the best we will build on our strengths in rights granting and related services. We want to provide truly digital services and we will transform the way we provide our services and data.

Creating a world leading IP environment

The UK has a world class IP system but this is only part of the picture. We want the whole IP environment, from the legal and policy framework, to the level of IP knowledge and ability to protect rights, to be world leading. This will provide incentives to invest in innovation.

Making the IPO a brilliant place to work

The IPO is already a great place to work, but we want to make it a brilliant place. One where staff can feel confident in being themselves and are dedicated to providing the best service for our customers.
