Timetable has now expired

1. May

The final specification has been released. The Marine Management Organisation (MMO) is not yet accepting devices for approval testing. The approval programme documents and test window dates will be released soon.

A tender to appoint an external organisation to assist MMO and IFCAs in testing devices against the specification of requirements has been released. The deadline for applications is 30 June 2014.

2. June

A contract will be awarded for a new EU vessel monitoring system (VMS) hub – the operational platform where position reports from vessels fitted with satellite VMS can be viewed.

Work to allow inshore vessel monitoring system (I-VMS) devices to be viewed on the EU VMS hub will start.

30 June: Deadline for submission of tenders to appoint an external organisation for I-VMS testing.

3. June to October

A transition period to allow the new hub to be developed.

4. July

The contract will be awarded to an external organisation to assist with I-VMS device testing.

5. October

I-VMS and EU hub suppliers will work together to work on integrating specific devices. The date for this may move forward as I-VMS devices may be able to integrate with the hub sooner. This would allow the testing period to move forward.

6. November

Test period opens.
