This document meets a commitment made by the government to the Women and Equalities Select Committee in July 2016. The commitment was to publish a report outlining progress against the two LGBT action plans published in 2011 by the coalition government. The commitment was made in the government’s response to the Committee’s report that followed their Transgender Equality Inquiry.

On 3 July 2018, the government published a new comprehensive and ambitious action plan, titled LGBT Action Plan 2018: Improving the Lives of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender People.
