Announcement of intention not to prepare an environmental statement (Regulation 5 of the Environmental Impact Assessment) (Land Drainage improvement Works) Regulations 1999 as amended by SI 2005/1399 and SI 2006/618.

The Environment Agency gives notice that it proposes to carry out improvement works to the flood defences on the River Ure in Lower Dunsforth (NGR SE4375364923). The proposed improvement works will involve installing an inspection chamber close to the existing earth embankment where a land drain passes under the embankment. A non return valve will be installed within the chamber to allow maintenance to be carried out safely. This will ensure that water can flow away from the properties in Lower Dunsforth and help prevent flooding.

The Environment Agency considers that the improvement works are not likely to have significant effects on the environment and does not intend to prepare an environmental statement in respect of them. Further information on the proposed works can be obtained from Kate Masser, who can be contacted during office hours of 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday.

Any person wishing to make representations in relation to the likely environmental effects of the proposed improvement works should do so, in writing, to the address specified below, within 28 days of the date of publication of this notice.
