Adwick Embankment repairs

Announcement of Intention not to prepare an environmental statement (Regulation 5 of the Environmental Impact Assessment (Land Drainage Improvement Works) Regulations 1999 as amended by SI 2005/1399 and SI 2006/618.

The Environment Agency gives notice that it proposes to carry out improvement works to the flood defences on the River Dearne in Adwick between Adwick Bridge (NGR SE4742402205) and Mill Lane (NGR SE4837501800), a distance of 1 kilometre. The proposed improvement works will involve the following:

  • repair the existing flood defence which has suffered damage from pedestrians walking along the crest
  • in addition to this it is proposed that a hard standing surface will be constructed to avoid future damage

The works will take approximately 2 months and will be undertaken between April 2015 and October 2015.

The Environment Agency considers that the improvement works are not likely to have significant effects on the environment and does not intend to prepare an environmental statement in respect of them.
