HS2 Phase 2a safeguarding maps: West Midlands to Crewe

Maps, broken down by area, which highlight the HS2 Phase 2a safeguarding area between the West Midlands and Crewe.

This publication was withdrawn on

On 18 January 2024, The Secretary of State for Transport laid a Written Ministerial Statement (WMS) revoking the Phase 2a Safeguarding Directions. Some limited safeguarding is retained at the boundary of 2a and Phase 1, to protect land required for a redesigned Handsacre Junction (where HS2 connects to the West Coast Main Line). This has required a new Direction to be laid alongside the WMS. All previous iterations of the associated Phase 2a safeguarding and Phase 2a property schemes plans have been withdrawn.

You can find the updated maps here.
