As the government and others have recognised, to succeed in the future, Britain needs a more balanced, more productive economy. But how do we maximise Britain’s assets for the future and, in the process, increase our national productivity? How do we get the best out of Britain? This report sets out how High Speed Two (HS2) can help and, indeed, is already beginning to do so.
HS2 Ltd held a series of roundtable discussions with businesses, trade and sector bodies, universities, local authorities and Local Enterprise Partnerships during 2017. The evidence gathered from those discussions has informed this report, providing evidence and feedback to understand the role that improved transport connectivity can play in helping to raise levels of productivity and growth in sectors and places across Britain.
