This note is for everyone involved with the slaughtering or killing of farm animals or poultry, whether or not in a licensed slaughterhouse.



It explains the procedures for licensing slaughtermen and gives guidance on the skills and knowledge that applicants for licences will be expected to demonstrate.

Regulation EU 1099/2009 introduces new arrangements for slaughter licences from 1 January 2013.
