This paper examines the systemic barriers preventing South Africa’s small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) from scaling and securing funding through the Just Energy Transition (JET). It sets out 6 ecosystem shifts to support SMME growth, investment and sustainable employment, and proposes the Mpumalanga SMME Growth Hub to connect enterprises to markets, capital and technical assistance.
