GPA exists to provide a single Civil Service general purpose estate managed for the benefit of departments - providing great places to work for civil servants, and using our scale and commercial expertise to do this effectively, efficiently and sustainably, helping to support growth in all parts of the UK.

Our ten year Strategy provides a clear direction of travel and demonstrates where we will support our clients and contribute to the Government’s policy targets - as a key enabler of Government transformation, supporting economic growth across the UK, delivering value for our clients, and helping meet Government’s carbon net zero target across the Government estate.

Our strategy covers the period 2020-30. Over this timescale we expect to transform the way the general purpose government estate supports public service delivery by:

  • Improving the experience of the workplace for civil servants;
  • Enabling increased working across departmental boundaries within the public sector;
  • Supporting moves from London to the nations and regions of the UK;
  • Taking a locality planning approach to optimise the government estate, and working with local authorities to embed our contribution to place-making;
  • Responding to the changes in ways of working being accelerated as a result of responses to COVID-19; and
  • Improving the sustainability and condition of the estate.

In all our activities, we will put customer service at the heart of what we do. We bring deep understanding of the workplace and the property market, and strong commercial acumen that can make a real difference: bringing together the best of public and private sectors.
