The new look GP and Practice Team bulletin now includes an update from National Director of Commissioning Development Barbara Hakin.

Every month Barbara will be providing her personal update from the NHS Commissioning Board Authority, as well as discussing the key principles and ideas behind clinical commissioning and the changes proposed.

In her first column, Barbara discusses what the current state is for the new health commissioning system that is set to replace primary care trusts. We also take a look at the key questions - what is commissioning, what will it change, and how will it affect primary care?

In addition you will find the usual mix of news, resources, reports and consultations aimed at GPs and practice team staff.
