The Government Geography Profession was launched in 2018 and since then has built a community across public sector organisations to support geographers in their work. The above strategy sets out the ways we are going to continue our current offer and the additional work we are going to do over the next 5 years to work towards our vision.
Our Vision:
To create and grow a high-profile, proud and effective geography profession that attracts fresh talent and has a secure place at the heart of decision making.
This vision will be met through our 3 pillars:
- Pillar 1: Creating the environment for geographers to have maximum impact in government and public sector
- Pillar 2: Professionalising and progressing the use and applications of geography in government and public sector
- Pillar 3: Growing a diverse and inclusive community of geographers within the profession and public sector
