Galliford Try Construction Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to abstract water from the area defined by National Grid References SU 38444 22174, SU 38480 22176, SU 38487 22138 and SU 38445 22140 at The North Shaft of Southampton Link Main and to transfer it to the Tadburn Lake at National Grid Reference SU 38485 22261 without intervening use.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 144 cubic metres an hour

  • 3,465 cubic metres a day

  • 622,080 cubic metres a year

  • between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year.

Abstraction is expected to take place until the end of March 2028.

Dewatering is required to ensure a safe working environment for the construction of an installation project near Romsey, Hampshire.
