The aim of this paper is to set out the possible future cultural dimension of cities. It reviews the past 50 years, identifies the factors that are likely to influence the future and develops 6 future scenarios:

  • the tourist-experience city
  • the homeland city
  • the campus city
  • the business lounge city
  • the omnivore city
  • the edge city
