This report reviews the available evidence concerning the effects of public sector procurement on the UK manufacturing sector. It examines the following questions:
- What is the current framework for government procurement in the UK?
- How does government procurement directly and indirectly effect manufacturing activities?
- How do UK procurement frameworks compare to other competitor nation procurement in terms of supporting manufacturing?
- In what ways could co-ordinated procurement encouage and support UK manufacturing?
This review was commissioned as part of the foresight project on the future of manufacturing in the UK.
