In response the Home Office Forensic and Biometric Policy group agreed the need for guidance on the area and that the police would develop such guidance. The Metropolitan Police, in partnership with the National Crime Agency (NCA), Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and the regulator, has prepared this guidance.

The Metropolitan Police, CPS and the NCA have been involved in the discussions about this matter and are content for the document to be published.
