AI Upskilling fund: privacy notice

This notice sets out how we will process your personal data, and your rights, if you’re applying to the Flexible AI Upskilling fund pilot. It is made under Articles 13 and/or 14 of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).

This notice relates to the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) Flexible AI Upskilling fund pilot scheme, which aims to promote artificial intelligence (AI) upskilling in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This privacy notice covers the collection and processing for applications to the Flexible AI Upskilling fund pilot.

Please note that DSIT and Cabinet Office Government Grant Managed Service (GGMS) are joint controllers for the purpose of the Flexible AI Upskilling fund pilot.

Your data

We may process the following personal data:

  • name
  • email
  • telephone number
  • address

Your personal data is obtained by us from Find a Grant through the ‘Apply for A Grant’ portal on which you applied. See the Find A Grant privacy notice’.

Purpose

The purpose(s) for which we are processing your personal data is:

  • To assess your application to the Flexible AI Upskilling fund pilot
  • To contact you and keep you informed of the progress of your application to the Flexible AI Upskilling fund pilot
  • To effectively deliver and monitor the impact of the Flexible AI Upskilling fund pilot

The legal basis for processing your personal data under Article 6 of the UK GDPR is:

6 (1) (e)Public task: Processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the data controller, in this case to keep you informed of the progress of the Flexible AI Upskilling fund pilot scheme.

Recipients

Your personal data may be shared with a third-party evaluator who will be selected to assess expressions of interest as part of the evaluation of the scheme.

The GGMS is provided by a third-party delivery partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC), with Cabinet Office oversight. Your personal data may also be shared with PwC.

Your data will not be shared with any other third party, unless we are required to do so by law, for example by court order or to prevent fraud or other crime.

Retention

Your personal information will be kept for a period of 1 year following your registration of expression of interest to ensure that administrative obligations are met and you can be kept informed of scheme progress

International Transfers

Your personal data will be processed in the UK.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • request information about how your personal data are processed, and to request a copy of that personal data
  • request that any inaccuracies in your personal data are rectified without delay
  • request that any incomplete personal data are completed, including by means of a supplementary statement
  • request that your personal data are erased if there is no longer a justification for them to be processed
  • in certain circumstances (for example, where accuracy is contested), request that the processing of your personal data is restricted
  • object to the processing of your personal data where it is processed for direct marketing purposes
  • object to the processing of your personal data
