The variation effective from 00:01hrs Monday 01 January 2024 is as follows:
1. 10m and Under Non-sector Limited Licences – end to temporary suspension of cap
- Affecting under 10m Cat A Limited licences (94/99)
An overall quota limitation of 350kg in a calendar year will apply, either singly or collectively, to all quota stocks (excluding bass) as set out in the table at Part II of the 94/99 Annex.
2. Western Waters Scallop Effort days set for Q1
- Affecting Licence Schedules for Category A (11), Category A Islands (12), Category A Pelagic (17), Category B (31) and Category C (41)
Western Water scallop days at sea now set to 70 days for Q1 (00:01 hrs 01 January – 23:59 31 March 2024)
3. Western Waters Crab Effort days set

12. Change to Crawfish minimum conservation reference size in ICES area 7
- Affecting licence schedules in O10m licence categories A, A (Islands), B, and C, and 10m and Under licence schedules A (PO), A, and A (Limited).
12.1 In 10m and Under Schedules:
5.3 In ICES sea area 7 (of English waters), the minimum conservation reference size for crawfish (Palinurus spp.) shall be 110mm and shall be measured, as the length of the carapace, parallel to the midline, from the tip of the rostrum to the midpoint of the distal dorsal edge of the carapace.
12.2 In Over 10m Schedules:
8.3 In ICES sea area 7 (of English waters), the minimum conservation reference size for crawfish (Palinurus spp.) shall be 110mm and shall be measured, as the length of the carapace, parallel to the midline, from the tip of the rostrum to the midpoint of the distal dorsal edge of the carapace.
13. Removal bycatch condition for Cod in Area 6a
- Affecting O10m licence categories A (11), A (Islands) (12), B (31), and C (41)
| REMOVED: Notwithstanding any quota limitation detailed in the Annexes, the vessel to which this licence relates may retain on board and land Cod caught in ICES Divisions 6a; EU and International Waters of 5b east of 12°00’W only insofar as where such catches do not exceed 2.5% of the total landings (by live weight) retained on board the vessel, during each fishing trip and do not exceed 0.5 tonne (by live weight). |
