Published 28 March 2022

On the 7th February 2022, the Economic Secretary to the Treasury laid The Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (Exemption) (Amendment) Order 2022 (SI 2022/100) before Parliament. This legislation will permit Norges Bank, Norway’s Central Bank, to undertake specific activities in UK market without requiring authorisation under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000. These activities include: dealing in investments as principal, dealing in investments as agent, managing investments, arranging, safeguarding, and administering investments, and advising on investments. This legislation maintains the status quo of existing UK market access arrangements for Norges Bank and will come into force on 31 March 2022.
