Details

This study aimed to examine the impact upon subsequent rule-breaking of punitive sanctions issued during disciplinary adjudications, and whether this impact varied for different groups of people or different types of misconduct. The purpose was to use this knowledge to inform effective policy and practice for responding to rule-breaking in prison. The study drew on data relating to over 6,000 people living in prison who had been the subject of a proven adjudication between 17 June and 14 July 2017; their subsequent conduct was followed for up to 10 months.
