Request

How many Black and Ethnic minority candidates pass their practical driving test in first attempt at Blackpool Centre?

Response

The table below shows the number of candidates who passed their car practical driving test on their first attempt at Blackpool driving test centre in the financial year 2012/13, broken down by ethnicity. The ethnicity data should be used with extreme caution. The information is voluntarily provided by test candidates and over 70 per cent of candidates do not declare any ethnicity at all. The data are therefore subject to self-selection and self-reporting biases and it is likely that the figures do not accurately represent the true ethnicity breakdown of test candidates.

Ethnicity Passes
Asian or Asian British 5
Black or Black British 7
Mixed 8
No Preference Given 982
Other 1
Prefer not to say 2
White 349
Total 1,354

Request

What is the pass rate for white/white British versus Ethnic minority/Black/Asian candidates for practical driving test at Blackpool Centre?

Response

We publish information about pass rates based on ethnicity by test centre on our website at Car driving test data by test centre.

This information is therefore exempt under section 21 (information accessible by other means) of the FoIA; a copy of this exemption can be found at Annex A.
