Details

Annual Average Damages (AAD) from the National Flood Risk Assessment have been used to produce national estimates of the average potential economic cost of flooding in any given year for England.

The national scale analysis used UK standard methodologies and best available data.

The estimates consider the probability and severity of different simulated flood events from the frequent to rare-but-extreme.

There are some uncertainties within these estimates.  They will be updated when the national flood risk assessment is updated and improved.

The estimates and the uncertainties inform the Environment Agency’s investment planning and scenario analysis.
