1. Action: financial statements deadline Tuesday 31 December 2019

The financial statements submission deadline is Tuesday 31 December 2019. If you have not submitted your financial statements, please do so as soon as possible.

It is a mandatory requirement within your funding agreement to submit your financial statements to the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) before the deadline

If you are having difficulties submitting your financial statements, please see our guidance or send us a query using the online enquiry form. Please select option ‘Academies financial returns’ and provide your trust’s company number.

A reminder that ESFA will publish the names of academy trusts who are late, or do not submit, two or more financial returns in each academic year. We strongly advise all users to allow enough time for all checks to be completed and signed off before any deadlines.

2. Information: accounts return 2018 to 2019 maintenance and update

The academies accounts return online form will be unavailable for a period during the morning of Friday 21 December for routine maintenance in advance of the Christmas period.

We would also like to make you aware that the last question in the academy trust information section of the accounts return 2018 to 2019 will be disabled.

The question to be disabled is: “During this financial year, have you received any gifts per the description in Managing Public Money?”

Until this update is implemented, please enter 0 in the form fields “Number of gifts” and “Total value” (£’000s).

3. Information: how to express an interest to deliver T Levels in 2022 to 2023 academic year, including the transition programme

As published in the T Level action plan, the Department for Education (DfE) is looking to identify the next tranche of providers to deliver T Levels from 2022 to 2023 academic year.

To complete the expression of interest all providers will have to be registered with DfE sign-in prior to the expression of interest becoming live.

The expression of interest goes live early in January. All institutions wishing to express an interest will be required to complete and submit an expression of interest to ESFA by midnight on Friday 28 February 2020.
