1. Action: local authorities to submit school financial value standard chief finance officer’s statement by 31 May 2018

Local authorities are required to upload their school financial value standard chief finance officer’s statement to the ESFA’s Information Exchange by 31 May 2018.

You should upload all files to the ESFA Information Exchange in the document exchange ‘Finance and Payments’ folder, under ‘AY 2017-18’.

2. Reminder: local authorities to submit adult education budget and apprenticeship funds return by 30 April 2018

Local authorities are required to upload the adult education budget (AEB) and apprenticeship funds return to the ESFA’s Information Exchange by 30 April 2018.

Please upload the returns using the guidance on AEB and apprenticeship funds returns.

You should upload all files to the ESFA Information Exchange in the document exchange ‘Finance and Payments’ folder, under ‘AY 2017-18’.

3. Information: local authority summaries of student numbers for 2018 to 2019

We’re starting to upload local authority summaries showing student numbers and high needs place numbers for all types of 16 to 19 institutions in their area. We expect them to be available week commencing 23 April.

Please be aware that these summaries are only produced once and will reflect the allocated student numbers at the point they are shared, adjustments may take place following this to deal with infrastructure changes or successful business cases. We publish the full list of 16 to 19 allocations and related student numbers annually each autumn.

All files will be located in the ESFA Information Exchange in the document exchange ‘revenue funding’ folder, under ‘AY 2018-19’.

4. Information: performance reporting - FE college groups and multi-site colleges

DfE has published a consultation document on performance reporting: FE college groups and multi-site colleges.

The proposals apply to institutions within the further education sector: further education colleges (including both general and specialist FE colleges), sixth form colleges, and institutions designated as being within the further education sector. The consultation is open until 10 June 2018.

5. Reminder: hospital education baseline collection

From 13 March 2018 we’ve been collecting information from local authorities about their planned spend on hospital education in the financial year 2018 to 2019.

We’ve provided a template for local authorities to complete. This is available via the ESFA data collections portal.

We’ve published guidance on how to complete the template.

Local authorities are required to submit their completed collection template by 27 April 2018. All local authorities must submit a return, even if they’ve no planned spend on hospital education.

6. Information: high needs benchmarking tool update

We’ve updated the high needs benchmarking tool to include 2016 to 2017 section 251 outturn data and provisional 2018 to 2019 high needs national funding formula allocations.
