1. Information: 2018 to 2019 16 to 19 bursary fund audit guide for local authorities

We have published the 2018 to 2019 16 to 19 bursary fund audit guide for local authorities. This guide is to help local authorities gain assurance that institutions in their areas are administering the 16 to 19 bursary fund correctly. It explains the audit processes and error criteria ESFA use and includes copies of the working papers ESFA uses in audits.

2. Information: publication of 2018 to 2019 high needs place numbers

In last week’s e-bulletin, we alerted you to the publication of the high needs place numbers for the 2018 to 2019 academic year on GOV.UK.

Local authorities should be aware for planning purposes that this publication does not include place numbers for special post-16 institutions (SPIs) or non-maintained special schools (NMSS). As in previous years the final numbers for these institutions are not finalised in time to be included in the March publication. We are aiming to publish an update which will include SPI and NMSS place numbers in July.
