This policy paper sets out how government will pay farmers and land managers to protect and improve the environment alongside food production, and how Environmental Land Management schemes will be delivered.

This includes information on:

  • the full range of actions we will pay for through the Sustainable Farming Incentive and Countryside Stewardship
  • when we plan for each action to be available through the schemes
  • the payment rates for the actions

It also includes more detailed information and payment rates for the new actions that will be available in the Sustainable Farming Incentive in 2023.
