This guidance helps you check if a role is eligible for an Enhanced DBS check, with or without Barred List access, in the ‘Other’ workforce. These are roles that do not directly involve caring for, training, supervising or being in sole charge of children or adults, but may still require this level of check due to the setting or type of access involved. It applies whether the role is paid or unpaid.
If a role does not meet the criteria for this check, you should check eligibility for a Standard DBS check.
