Details
The Employability Skills Framework was developed to help create greater consistency in how employability skills are understood, discussed and applied across the skills and employment system. By bringing together employer expectations and young people’s experiences, it provides a shared reference point that supports more effective recognition, development and assessment of employability skills. It also reflects the growing importance of digital and AI capabilities within modern workplaces.
The framework:
- provides a common language for employability skills across different settings
- helps employers identify and communicate the skills they value
- supports young people to recognise, articulate and evidence their skills
- offers practical examples of how skills can be developed and assessed
- provides a basis for organisations to align existing programmes, products and services
Partners can use the framework in ways that best suit their context, whether embedding it within recruitment and assessment practices, informing education and training programmes, or supporting young people to better understand and demonstrate their capabilities. The long-term ambition is to strengthen consistency across the system and improve the connection between talent and opportunity.
